Negative vs. Positive

Hey Jeannie do you have a minute? “I have a member on my team who frequently addresses others negatively. What can I do with this individual?”

I am hearing so much of this type of behavior lately. It is important to know that positivity is a mental fitness challenge for many. Mental fitness and confidence are closely related concepts. Mental fitness refers to the state of one's mental health and well-being. Confidence, on the other hand, is the belief in one's abilities, qualities, and judgments.

When a person is mentally fit, they are more likely to have higher levels of confidence. This is because mental fitness involves a positive outlook, resilience, and the ability to cope with stress and challenges effectively. As a result, mentally fit individuals are better equipped to handle difficult situations and are more likely to approach them with a sense of confidence.

Conversely, when a person is struggling with mental fitness, they may experience a decrease in confidence. Mental fitness issues can cause negative self-talk, self-doubt, and feelings of worthlessness, which can all contribute to a lack of confidence.

It is important to prioritize mental fitness to maintain a healthy level of confidence. This can be achieved through regular exercise, healthy eating habits, practicing mindfulness, seeking therapy or counseling, joining a group coaching program, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment. By taking care of our mental fitness, we can build the resilience and confidence needed to navigate life's challenges with ease. As a result, individuals tend to positively switch their negativity.

It is also important to note that everyone's journey to mental fitness and confidence is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's essential to find the strategies that work best for you and/or individuals on your team and to prioritize mental well-being. Perhaps starting with a mental fitness, confidence, and/or energy leadership assessment might be the first step.
